Bank statement to Tally without Excel

Searching for a “bank statement Excel format for Tally” or an import template? You may not need one at all. The Excel step exists only because the statement arrives as a PDF - if the PDF itself can be read, the spreadsheet in the middle disappears.

Why the Excel route is slow

The direct way: PDF straight into Tally

SunTim PDF Import reads the statement PDF the way your bank prints it and posts the vouchers into your own Tally company - there is no Excel or CSV step in between.

  1. 1Point it at your Tally companyTell the software once which Tally company to post into and what your ledger names are.
  2. 2Pick your bank and the statement PDFChoose the bank, then select the statement PDF - or a whole folder of them. Nothing has to be converted to Excel or CSV first.
  3. 3Every transaction is read and matchedDate, description, reference number, money in, money out and balance are read from each line, and each transaction is matched to a ledger.
  4. 4Review and post the vouchers into TallyPrimeCheck anything that needs your attention, then push the vouchers into your own Tally company. Unclear entries wait in a suspense ledger instead of being guessed at.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a bank statement Excel format or template to import into Tally?

Not with SunTim PDF Import. Most bank statement imports into Tally expect the statement to be copied into a fixed Excel format first. SunTim reads the bank's PDF statement directly, so there is no Excel template to download, fill in or fix.

Does it work with TallyPrime and Tally.ERP 9?

Yes. Vouchers are posted straight into your own Tally company, in TallyPrime or Tally.ERP 9.

What if the same statement is imported twice?

Each voucher carries the reference number from the statement narration - the UTR on a NEFT, RTGS or IMPS entry, or the cheque number - so importing the same statement again updates the existing entry instead of creating a duplicate.

Is my bank statement uploaded anywhere?

No. The statement is read on your own Windows computer and posted into your local Tally installation. Nothing is uploaded to the internet.

Can I try it before buying?

Yes. There is a 7-day free trial with a fully working product key and no credit card required, or you can book a free 15-minute demo on your own bank statement.
